This program is a form of High Intensity Interval Training and weightlifting that uses functional movements in constantly different combinations to improve fitness and quality of life.
You will play with barbells, dumbells, kettlebells, gymnastic rings, plyoboxes, medicine balls, jumpropes, running, bodyweight movements, and more to develop a broad, well rounded athleticism that we like to call “General Physical Preparedness”. While the typical bodybuilding routine may help you look good, our focus is on performance and health first, aesthetics second. What use is it to look good, but have your blood pressure going through the roof and no energy to play with your kids?
In your typical gym, you’re provided the equipment and left to fend for yourself to figure out what to do. This too often leads to lack of results, boredom, and possibly injury. The difference between our program and your typical gym membership, is that you’ll get constant coaching during your workouts to ensure correct movement, motivation, and help tracking your progress. And since it is in a group environment, you’ll have new friends cheering you on to push harder so that you get results.
- Functional movements performed in ever changing combinations mimics the unknown randomness of life and combat, keeps exercise from being boring, as well as stimulate your body to adapt by improving its fitness. This is the best method for burning fat and building lean muscle. And more importantly, it sustains physical mobility and freedom to prevent decrepitude in later life.
- Workouts are scaled to your level of fitness. This allows you to work hard so that you improve, but also prevent over training and injury regardless of whether you are exercising for the first time in your life or you are a seasoned athlete.
- Progress and results are measured scientifically by recording weights, reps, and times of the workouts. You’ll periodically perform selected “benchmark” workouts and compare your current results with previous results. This way you can see your progress through objective evidence rather than mere subjective feeling.
- Not Martial Arts Specific. Although we operate out of a martial arts gym, this program is designed for anyone from soccer moms to soldiers, computer geeks to firefighters. Because the workouts are based on functional movements and scalability, it is designed for human beings of all types. You can do this!
